Power of Love

Lundstrum Performing Arts’ 23rd Annual Gala was a tremendous success! Together, we raised over $290,000 to support children pursuing their dreams at Lundstrum, where our unique combination of quality training and caring mentorship is transforming the lives of children from North Minneapolis and beyond!

This year’s 'Power of Love’ celebration included performances from three-time Grammy Award winner Jamecia Bennett and Julius Collins from the funk n Roll group called Black Julius, managed by Prince. They performed alongside Lundstrum’s rising stars with songs and performances from Sir Duke, Love Bug, Music Man, Beauty and The Beast. There was a special moment with Lundstrum’s Hip Hop Company performing In Honor Of, choreographed by Herbert Johnson in honor of the late Patrick Moore.

“We need Love like the Sun and Light and Air…”

This year’s community honoree was LaTrisha Vetaw, a proud member of the Minneapolis City Council representing North Minneapolis. We are grateful to have such support in the North community who see Lundstrum as an excellent opportunity for kids in the neighborhood to shine and express their creativity.

Lundstrum also honored longtime supporters Mary McMahon and Al Geiwitz. For over 20 years, Mary and Al have been enthusiastic friends and generous supporters of Lundstrum’s mission to positively impact young lives through the joy of the performing arts.

Thank you for celebrating the power of love to inspire children through the performing arts. The night was exciting, with so much support for Lundstrum and our students!

Our scholarship need continues as we hear from summer students in need of support. We still need additional support to ensure that NO child is turned away from Lundstrum for financial reasons. If you missed this year’s gala, please consider donating here to help us open doors of opportunity for children in North Minneapolis and beyond.
